Inauguration Day 2021. The Moment and Meaning behind the Fashion.
Welcoming President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris and their families into the White House came with some fabulous sartorial moments .
Were you wondering what the colors meant?
From the Vice-President and First Lady , to Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton, these key attendees chose one solid hue. It marked an iconic moment in fashion. Many of them chose designers from small BIPOC- owned, NYC emerging brands .
President Joe Biden wore a classic suit by Ralph Lauren.
First Lady Jill Biden chose a blue coat embroidered with Swarovski crystals custom made for her by Alexandra O’Neill of the emerging New York label Markarian.
This look is classic and the choice to wear one single color has always been simple & flattering in it’s ability to elongate ones silhouette. The color blue symbolizes “Trust, Confidence and Stability”
Vice President Kamala Harris honored the rising fashion designer Christopher John Rogers for her history making moment on Capital Hill. The purple color was said to be a symbol of mixing Red and Blue (political p arty colors) to evoke a sense of solidarity, bipartisanship, and unity.
Lady Gaga wore one of the most dramatic looks of the Inauguration. A custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture outfit designed by Daniel Roseberry. A fitted jacket in navy cashmere, a skirt in washed red silk faille, and a giant gilded dove of peace brooch while she sang one of the most beautiful rendition’s of the National Anthem. Wow!!
Lets not forget how stunning J.Lo’s all- white Chanel outfit looked that continued the trend. Her silk ruffled blouse, sequined wide-leg pants, long tweed coat, earrings, bracelet and belt were all Chanel. Stunning!
