I am thrilled this time of year to attend Fashion week and see all the latest and greatest that designers have to offer. I will see top influential designers and the next generation of emerging design talent from around the world. It’s day 2 and I’m happy to report about some of my favorites this season.
As always the first show for me was BCBG and it was and is always amazing. The line looked fabulous and you’ll be loving it come this Spring 2015. The collection combines timeless elegance with nonchalantly bohemian silhouettes in soft pastels. Tapestry and abstract floral prints are inspiring this season along with fluid drape dresses and layered cascades of sheer fabrics are offset by structured and quilted pieces.
Nicky Zimmermann for Zimmermann… Wow! I loved this line… The collection was airy, light and had plenty of movement. Handkerchief dresses, full caplets and floating necklines played up the impact of volume with her line. Feminine and masculine influences together perfectly balanced this collection. Billowing silhouettes that were very flattering with smocking details and tucks at the waistlines. Swimsuits to die for. Couture-inspired with a perfect body-contouring fit will certainly make heads turn next summer.
Tadashi Shoji… Stunning! Intricate detailing is paired with playful transparencies. Lots of sheer necklines gave the illusion of floating dresses. Soft, sculpted silhouettes mixed with unexpected details and trims. Floor length gowns were shown with capes attached. Colors were soft, glowing pastels and fabrics were custom designed. Tadashi is truly inspiring and sets himself apart when designing gowns. His one-of-a-kind designs put him at the top of the leader board. Amazing line!
Trina Turk.. Who doesn’t love her? Let’s just say vibrant and full-of-life, this collection was. Tropical takes on foliage bloom with graphic stripes and geometric jacquards. The one-piece is key in rompers, jumpsuits, and maxi patio dresses. Both Trina Turk and Mr Turk were looking fresh and inspiring for Spring 2015. From bikinis to board shorts to cell phone cases, Trina Turk has it all covered.
